I would say of all the cars on sale in India now, for me Skoda Kylaq is the favorite, and that is why even I bought this car. Skoda Kylaq is a perfect blend of practicality, features and drive experience, combined with the value for money quotient. According to me, Skoda has really taken care of giving necessary features under an affordable category, with competitive pricing to other brands in this category. So, under a decent budget, you are getting a German engineered vehicle, with really good drive experience, which was not possible few decades back. So with the introduction of Kylaq, Skoda has entered the affordable mid SUV segment. After owning the vehicle for almost 6 months now, I can personally say buying Kylaq was the best decision while choosing a car for my needs. The fact that they are making almost all parts of this vehicle in India itself is really a game changing move, as this could bring down the service costs of the vehicle as well, which was a major repulsive factor among the Indians in owning a Skoda car. Pros: 1)Good Drivability and Handling 2)Suitable for city drives and highways 3)Has almost all basic features(Seat ventilation, Hill hold, paddle shif

Recently, I drove the Skoda Kylaq, and it was the best experience I had on the road. The showroom was really great, giving me a 20-km test drive to get to know the car well. It's a well-refined engine with less NVH and of all the DSG gearboxes that I have tried - this one was very well tuned. The car suspensions were perfect for the Mumbai roads and the car had zero body roll. The car didn't have the modern sunroof or 360 camera setup but it had the perfection of drive that an enthusiast needs. I fell in love with the car but feel it to be a tad bit expensive.

Skoda Kylaq - Modern Compact SUV

The Skoda Kylaq is designed for buyers who want a compact SUV with a strong build and a refined driving experience. It is positioned below the Kushaq but still carries the same Skoda DNA. Clean design. Solid engineering. Good ride quality.

The Skoda Kylaq SUV is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform. This platform is already proven in India. It balances safety, comfort, and driving stability well. The idea is simple. Offer a smaller SUV that still feels premium and confidence-inspiring.

Even the lower variants feel usable. The cabin design is clean. Controls are easy to understand. The Kylaq does not try to look flashy. It focuses more on everyday usability. This approach suits Indian roads and daily driving conditions well.

The Kylaq price in India places it right in the heart of the compact SUV segment. Skoda has priced it competitively to attract volume buyers. The Skoda Kylaq price reveal made it clear that the brand wants a stronger presence in this space. The Kylaq price range is wide enough to suit different budgets. From an affordable base model to feature-rich higher trims, there is enough choice for buyers.

Even the entry model feels well-rounded. Higher trims add comfort and tech features that many buyers will appreciate.

The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a single engine option, which is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill incorporating VW Group’s trademarked TSI tech. A fairly potent unit, this is the same motor that’s even found on the Kushaq and Slavia.

1.0L TSI Petrol Engine

This turbo-petrol engine produces 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. On paper, it looks modest. On the road, it feels lively. Acceleration is quick. Turbo lag is minimal. In city driving, the Kylaq feels easy to manage. While the steering feels light at low speeds, it gains heft as speeds rise. In the manual version, the clutch action is light; the gearshifts feel positive on the automatic variant. Also, the automatic is smooth and convenient for daily use, while the manual transmission gives better control. Ride quality is decent, and the handling is precise. The suspension absorbs bumps well. Bad roads do not unsettle the car easily. Body roll is controlled. This makes the Kylaq stable and confidence-inspiring.

The Skoda Kylaq is offered in multiple trims.

Entry Variant

The base variant is simple but practical. It covers all essentials. Ideal for buyers upgrading from a hatchback.

Top Variant

The top trim feels premium. It adds comfort, technology, and cosmetic upgrades. This version is the most suitable for buyers who need a feature-loaded package. Also, the Skoda Kylaq price range is wide enough to help buyers pick a variant based on their exact requirements and budget.

The Skoda Kylaq delivers a claimed ARAI mileage of 19.68 kmpl for the 6-speed manual and 19.05 kmpl for the 6-speed torque converter automatic. Powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, its real-world fuel mileage is highly sensitive to driving habits:

City Driving: Expect anything between 9 and 11 kmpl in heavy traffic.

Highway Use: Efficiency improves significantly, with real-world figures reaching 14-16 kmpl when driven around 100-110 km/h.

With a 45-litre fuel tank, the Kylaq offers a theoretical driving range of over 850 km. That said, a mix of urban and highway use will typically yield around 550 km per tank.

The Skoda Kylaq SUV follows the clean design language of its manufacturer. Overall, the design looks neat and fuss-free. That said, the aesthetics don’t feel aggressive or too bold. The front gets a signature Skoda grille with chrome accents. The headlamps are sharp and modern. The bumper design is simple but solid. From the side, the Kylaq looks compact yet sturdy. Strong character lines add presence. Alloy wheels enhance the stance. The rear design is clean with neatly designed tail lamps.

Key exterior highlights include:

• LED headlamps and tail lamps
• Signature Skoda grille
• Strong body lines

Overall, the Skoda Kylaq looks mature for its size.

Step inside the Skoda Kylaq and the cabin feels familiar. Simple layout. Solid build. Good quality materials. The dashboard design is straightforward. Buttons are easy to reach. The infotainment screen is placed well. There is no clutter. Seats are comfortable. Front seats offer good support. Rear seat space is decent for two adults. Headroom and legroom are acceptable for the segment.

Interior features include a touchscreen infotainment system, Digital instrument cluster, Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and automatic climate control and Rear AC vents. Boot space is practical for daily use. Weekend luggage is not a problem.

Storage spaces include Door pockets, Cup holders, Centre armrest storage and Bottle holders. The Skoda Kylaq SUV feels well-suited for family use.

Technology is one of the strengths of the Skoda Kylaq. Key tech features include Connected car features, Wireless charging, Voice commands and Digital displays. Everything works smoothly. No lag. No confusion. The Kylaq feels modern without being overcomplicated.

Safety is a strong focus area for Skoda. Safety highlights include: Multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts. These features make the Skoda Kylaq SUV a safe choice for families. Even the lower variants offer a solid safety package.

The Skoda Kylaq competes with other compact SUVs in India, such as:

Tata Nexon - Enjoys a strong safety image but is heavier to drive. Also, the handling is not confident at high speeds.

Hyundai Venue - Easily the most feature-rich offering, but it isn’t as fun to drive.

Maruti Brezza - Offers the highest reliability but is less engaging to drive.

Kia Sonet - Looks bolder and a tad more stylish, but has a stiff ride quality

The Skoda Kylaq stands out for its driving stability and build quality.

Like every vehicle, even the Skoda Kylaq has its share of strengths and weaknesses. Hence, we urge potential buyers to make the purchase decision based on their exact requirements.
