Keeping Elegance Compact!
Introduced to international markets in 2018, the second-generation Q3 faced notable delays before it arrived in India. Factors such as the pandemic and supply chain disruptions prolonged the wait for eager Indian customers. However, the anticipation has finally come to an end as the country's beloved Audi model returns in a completely revamped form – an all-new car, in all respects. But, will it capture the same widespread appeal as its predecessor?
Audi Q3 Pros and Cons

Audi Q3 Exterior Design
The second generation of the Q3 sits on the new MQB A2 platform and has grown in size when compared to the last generation model. What is also new is the exterior design which is a big departure from the last iterations and might remind you of the Q8. The SUV now looks sharper and more aggressive and the face is now unmistakably Audi. At the front, you get a large octagonal grille with vertical slats, new lights with neat interaction of the DRLs and generous use of satin silver accents to complement the styling.
Along the sides, the SUV maintains its elegant stance, although some may find the new 18-inch wheels too bland. The rear retains its sharp appearance, with updated tail lights featuring fancy DRL elements. Lower down, you will not fail to notice a similar silver finish on the bumpers as seen at the front.
Audi Q3 Interiors
Stepping inside the Audi Q3, you're greeted with a familiar yet modern interior. The front seats are surprisingly spacious and offer good visibility, making getting in and settling down easy. The cabin feels robust and high-quality, with padded surfaces and a solid fit and finish akin to pricier Audis.
However, the interior lacks the flashiness of some competitors like the Mercedes-Benz GLA. While the digital dials and touchscreen are functional, they aren't as vibrant or customisable as those of rivals. Features include LED headlights, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, digital dials, and ambient lighting. Safety features comprise six airbags, ESC, and ISOFIX child seat mounts, but advanced driver assistance systems are absent.
Audi Q3 Comfort
While the seats are comfortable and supportive for the front passengers, one significant improvement is the rear seat space. The longer wheelbase and space-efficient MQB platform offer ample knee room and headroom. The seating position is comfortable, with adjustable backrest angles. However, the rear seat is best suited for two passengers due to a short middle seat squab and high centre tunnel. Making things even better inside the cabin is the ride comfort, all thanks to the new suspension setup and meaty tyres that absorb the initial blow. The high-ground clearance and a well-damped suspension further make it a great choice for the wort of our roads too.
Audi Q3 Performance and Handling
The Audi Q3 in India is exclusively offered with a single petrol engine option, the 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder unit. With 190hp and 320Nm of torque, it boasts the best torque figures among petrol SUVs in its segment and is paired with a seven-speed DCT transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Part-throttle responses are smooth and steady at low speeds, with a strong mid-range for punchy performance when needed. Driving modes allow for fine-tuning, with Sport mode providing a more spirited driving experience. Despite some body roll, the Quattro system keeps the driver confident around the corners. While the suspension can be a bit noisy over bumps, the Q3's overall ride quality is comfortable and composed, particularly on highways. The SUV’s size and light steering make manoeuvring in urban areas effortless, while the spacious and well-appointed interior ensures a comfortable ride for all occupants.

Audi Q3 Safety Features
The new Q3 comes equipped with several standard safety features such as standard six airbags, ABS and EBD, Parking aid plus, and a Rear view camera for improved visibility while reversing. However, Audi could have done more in this area. While the Q3 meets standard safety requirements, it falls short compared to some competitors. There are only six airbags, whereas some rivals offer up to eight, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are lacking.
Audi Q3 Technology and Infotainment
The Audi Q3 boasts a range of modern tech and features aimed at enhancing the overall in-cabin experience. Inside, drivers are greeted with Audi's Virtual Cockpit and a 10.1-inch touchscreen display for easy access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. The cabin's design is both functional and stylish, featuring tactile, knurled knobs for climate control adjustment and amenities like wireless phone charging, two-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Features like ventilated seats, adaptive cruise control and other advanced driving aids however should have been offered as part of the package, especially at this price.
Is the Audi Q3 for You?
The Audi Q3 impresses with its stylish design, comfortable interior, and engaging driving experience, offering a premium feel at a more accessible price when compared to the more expensive offerings from the brand. However, the fully loaded Technology variant's price may deter some buyers along with the absence of a fuel-efficient diesel motor. While it lacks some safety features and more powertrain option, it remains competitive in the luxury car market, appealing particularly to urban drivers seeking a compact and a reliable SUV.
