Mahindra Vision S concept unveiled — New Scorpio incoming?
- 1Based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform
- 2Features boot-mounted spare wheel, 19-inch wheels, and lots of body cladding
- 3Expected to be officially launched in 2027
Mahindra, keeping true to its 15th August tradition, has showcased a set of four new concept SUVs — Vision S, Vision X, Vision T, and Vision SXT. The Vision S concept is the one that’s likely to reach production first, with an official launch expected in 2027. It is likely to be a new member of the Mahindra Scorpio family. Here’s all that we know so far about the new Mahindra Vision S concept.
Mahindra Vision S design details

The Vision S concept SUV measures sub-4 metre in length, with an overall boxy design that’s eerily similar to that of the Land Rover Defender. The concept SUV sits on 19-inch wheels that come with red brake callipers. There are cameras instead of ORVMs, though we might see traditional ORVMs once the SUV reaches production. The rear quarter panel gets a step ladder on one side and a jerry can on the other, accentuating the SUV’s off-road appeal. There’s a boot-mounted spare tyre, and for some reason best known to Mahindra — flush door handles. The SUV features solid side steps and a high ground clearance.

Mahindra Vision S SUV interior

While most part of the interior still remains under the wraps, what’s visible includes a new design for the steering wheel, hexagonal air-con vents, and a dual-screen setup in a landscape orientation. There’s a dual-tone upholstery on the seats, and grab handles mounted on the A and B-pillars can also be seen. Visuals suggest that the car will feature a balance of touch-based and physical controls. You get a panoramic sunroof, too, of course.
Mahindra NU_IQ platform

As is the case with all the concept SUVs showcased by Mahindra at the event, the Vision S is based on its new NU_IQ platform that supports ICE, electric, as well as hybrid powertrains. We do not know yet about the powertrain options that will be available on the Vision S. The platform can support front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
