Audi Q5 mileage
Elegant, Effortless, Elite
The Audi Q5 has long been a cornerstone of Audi's lineup, especially in the Indian market. After a hiatus following the introduction of BS6 norms and the disruptions caused by the pandemic, the Q5 made a much-anticipated return to the Indian market, along with a facelift. BS6 norms also made Audi axe the diesel engine from the line-up, leaving the sole 2.0-litre petrol on offer. The updated model is better equipped, and apart from styling elements it also gets larger wheels, which theoretically should make it a bit more dynamic than before. Interestingly, the model that once rivalled the Mercedes GLE (or ML-Class, as it was known back then) is now significantly cheaper, and even undercuts the GLC. This makes the Q5 a unique offering. Let’s find out what makes it special.

Audi Q5 Exterior Design
With the facelift, Audi has incorporated some clever design cues to make the Q5 appear new, while keeping the silhouette unchanged. The redesigned LED headlamps and tail lamps provide a contemporary flair, aligning with Audi’s latest design language. The introduction of a wider and flatter octagonal grille, adorned with aggressive brushed metal slats, gives it a more commanding presence. This is complemented by a chrome strip connecting the tail-lamps, adding a touch of elegance. Another notable change is the increase in wheel size to 19-inches. However, the wheel design is a little too plain, taking away from the facelift’s modern look. The overall design has also started to show its age, and some may feel rivals in the segment look better.
Audi Q5 Interiors
The Audi Q5 blends luxury and practicality. The cabin's aesthetic is refreshed with the use of piano black trim which replaces the conventional brown wood, adding a modern touch to the interior. However, the dashboard design is typically Audi, and isn’t as attractive as some of the other models from the German manufacturer. Similar to the exterior, the interior design has started to show its age, and craves a new generation update. The lack of USB ports for rear passengers is also a miss in today's connected world. The back seat remains spacious, which is a key selling point for this segment, and the 550-litre boot capacity is also sufficient for most needs.
Audi Q5 Comfort
Providing a comfortable driving experience is one of the Q5’s strong suits, and there are multiple factors that go into making this a pleasant experience. For starters, the Q5 gets adaptive dampers. Given the dynamic nature of road conditions in our country, the adaptive dampers do most of the heavy lifting, soaking up bumps and potholes really well while reducing body roll. Despite moving to larger 19-inch wheels, the ride quality remains exceptional. At lower speeds, the suspension is forgiving, absorbing road imperfections with ease. As the speed increases, the Q5 maintains its composure, providing a stable and reassuring ride. The light steering — which may be a turn off for enthusiasts — also complements its easy-going and effortless driving experience, and so does the smooth 2.0-litre petrol engine and 7-speed DCT.
The Q5 shines in the seating department too. The seats, upholstered in high-quality materials, provide excellent support and comfort on both rows. The rear seats are particularly spacious, offering ample legroom and headroom, catering well to families as well as the chauffeur driven.
Audi Q5 Performance and Handling
With the BS6 update, Audi axed its popular diesel engine from the Q5 lineup, leaving the sole 45 TFSI petrol engine powering the premium mid-size SUV. The 2.0-litre engine puts out a healthy 261 bhp, helping the Q5 accelerate to 100 km/h from standstill in just 6.1 seconds! That’s only 0.1 seconds slower than the mighty Porsche Cayenne, which costs almost twice as much. The engine never leaves you wanting more, and the 7-speed dual clutch automatic also makes sure you are always in the right gear to get going, with quick and smooth shifts. And even when the gearbox is yet to downshift, the 370 Nm torque that’s available from as low as 1,600 RPM helps propel the car. Quattro AWD also helps the Q5 in dealing with moderate off-roading (and ice, if you live in the mountains), and provides much better traction when the going gets wet. However, while the engine and transmission are a thing of beauty, the steering isn’t as joyful and communicative. It is very precise, and will do exactly what you ask it to, but it is too light, and doesn’t translate any road imperfections to the driver. While an enthusiast would not love it, someone who enjoys a relaxed drive will find this absolutely delightful.

Audi Q5 Safety Features
The Audi Q5 is worth its metal when it comes to safety, scoring 5-stars from Euro NCAP. It gets several safety and convenience features, which include as many as eight airbags, an advanced park assist system and several other electronic nannies like stability control, ABS, EBD, and the works. However, a 360-degree parking camera is not a part of the package, even though its predecessor had it in select variants.
Audi Q5 Technology and Infotainment
Audi has also updated the Q5 with the latest tech, and it now gets a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that replaces the older 8.3-inch unit, which was operated by a dial-like controller. The new infotainment gets a clean interface, and has features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What’s even better is the 755 W 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, which delivers extraordinary audio. However, the sound system is only reserved for the top variant. It also gets a huge 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster — named ‘Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus’ — which allows you to choose between multiple layouts catered to different needs. Apart from the car and the engine speed, the instrument cluster can also show information related to media and radio, and also gets a navigation display. Completing the tech package is a nifty wireless phone charger.
Is the Audi Q5 for you?
The Audi Q5 is a compelling option for buyers who primarily spend most of their time in the back seat, or stuck in the urban jungle. Its elegant design, although showing signs of age, still commands presence, and the interior is a blend of practicality and luxury, along with latest tech like the new feature-loaded infotainment system and an immersive 19-speaker B&O sound system. For occasional weekend trips, the Q5 is also a delight to drive thanks to a powerful drivetrain and great ride and handling, and there’s plenty of boot space to pack your family’s luggage. However, lack of steering feedback takes away from its driving experience, making it more comfort oriented than sporty, even in the stiffest settings. While it does have a few drawbacks, one of the things the Q5 has going for it is its aggressive price tag, which not only undercuts the Mercedes-Benz GLE, but also undercuts the GLC. If you are seeking a luxurious and comfortable experience but also need the practicality of an SUV, the Audi Q5 is definitely a car you should have on your shortlist.

The other issue with the Q3 is the rather dated digital screens, which lack the crisp and colourful graphics you find in the competition. The once much-vaunted digital cockpit falls short on content and wow
