Kerala RTO vehicle information: Check vehicle details by number plate

Kerala, with around 3.59 crore residents, has set up over 86 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in its 14 districts to facilitate vehicle registrations, provision of learners and permanent driving licences, and other RTO services. The RTOs in Kerala are mandated to ensure adherence to the guidelines stipulated in the Indian Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 throughout the state.

Kerala Vehicle Registration Process

The process for registering a motor vehicle in Kerala involves several steps. First, take the vehicle to the RTO office in your area. Complete and submit application Form 20 along with the necessary documentation, which includes the following:

1. Forms 22 and 21

2. Proof of address, age, and identification

3. Pollution Under Control (PUC)

4. The car's insurance certificate

5. A few recent passport-sized photos of the owner

6. Customs clearance certificate (needed for imported vehicles)

7. Vehicle purchase invoice

8. Payment of all applicable dues, including road tax

9. A copy of your PAN card or Form 60/61 if relevant

10. Tax as per Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation Act/Rules
