Volvo has given its flagship sedan another facelift, and the same has been unveiled globally, with China being the first market that’ll get to see it on the roads.
It is highly unlikely that the updated S90 sedan will make its way to our shores. Moreover, it isn’t expected to be launched in the States or in Europe either, amidst declining popularity of sedans and the brand’s focus on electric vehicles.
Resembling the Volvo XC90, the new S90 also gets a restyled front grille with diagonal elements. It also features new alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, and T-shapes in the headlamps as well as the tail lamps. The overall design remains more or less the same.
The interior gets a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen on the dashboard with a new user interface. Volvo also claims the car to get improved sound insulation. Rest of the Volvo S90 interior remains largely unchanged. Detailed feature list is yet to be revealed.
Details are scarce on this front, but Volvo has confirmed offering both mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrains, with the latter getting an improved all-electric range of 80 kilometres, up from 74 kilometres on its predecessor.
The Volvo S90 colour options have also been revised, with two new metallic colours introduced — Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red.
