The Volkswagen Golf is one of German carmaker’s best-selling nameplates across the globe and the GTI is its hot hatch iteration. The Golf has never made it to the Indian market but as per a latest report, Volkswagen is looking to bring the Golf GTI in India in limited numbers.
As per a latest report, Volkswagen India is looking to launch the Golf GTI hot hatchback in the Indian market. It will be brought to the market via the CBU route in limited numbers, positioned as a halo model in the brand's lineup.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI India launch is said to take place in August 2025. The Golf GTI price is expected to fall in the range of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Volkswagen Golf GTI comes powered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 265PS of power and 370Nm of torque. The power is channeled to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT and it’s capable to sprint from standstill to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds.
Apart from the Golf GTI, Volkswagen plans to bring other new models to the Indian market as well, namely the ID.4 electric SUV, Tera compact SUV, new Tiguan SUV and facelifted versions of the Taigun and Virtus.
