Love the Land Cruiser but are turned away by its extravagant price tag? Toyota might just have something for you in the works. Recent media reports suggest that Toyota might bring back the Land Cruiser Prado back to India.
The Prado is a compact-er version of the cult Land Cruiser and it used to be on sale in India before discontinuation in 2020. It gets smaller engines than the LC and is thus more affordable.
As per reports, Toyota might launch the new Land Cruiser Prado in India by the second half of calendar year 2025. It will most likely come in as a CBU. Toyota is yet to confirm the same as of date.
The upcoming Prado is likely to come equipped with Toyota’s 2.8-litre diesel unit that also does duty on the Toyota Fortuner in India. It will come paired to an 8-speed AT and might also get a 48 Volt mild-hybrid system. Needless to say, it will get a proper 4WD system.
The Prado gets an array of physical controls complimenting a 12.3-inch touchscreen unit. There’s also a digital driver’s display, multi-zone climate control, and leather upholstery for the seats, among other features.
The Prado gets a ton of off-road tech including downhill-assist control, Crawl feature, electronically-lockable rear and centre differentials, multiple drive modes, a disconnecting front anti-roll bar, and more.
