Skoda Auto India announced the name of its new compact SUV, Kylaq, likely to be launched in 2025 to join the other ongoing cars by Skoda like the Kodiaq, Superb, Kushaq and Slavia.
The name ‘Kylaq’ has been chosen through an imaginative national campaign: ‘Name Your Skoda’ by Skoda India. It is derived from the Sanskrit word for crystal, reflecting the vehicle’s qualities and inspiration, as per the company.
As per the design sketches, the Skoda Kylaq will offer a split LED headlight design with LED DRLs and tail lights. Skoda’s radiator grille and an updated logo will also be present on the front.
Skoda Kylaq is likely to get a lot of features like a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, 2-spoke multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, 360-degree parking camera and ventilated front seats.
The Skoda Kylaq is likely to come with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, just like Kushaq but it probably won’t carry over the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine due to tax-saving benefits.
The Kylaq will compete with compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
