Volkswagen currently sells the second generation Volkswagen Tiguan SUV in India, which also happens to be the brand’s flagship offering here. Globally, the SUV is being sold in its third-generation iteration.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, has confirmed that the German carmaker will launch the third generation Volkswagen Tiguan in India in its top-of-the-line R-Line trim. It will be launched here in the second quarter of 2025.
The latest generation of the Tiguan features a curvier styling with connected lights at both ends. There’s the TIGUAN badging down the boot lid, and various R-Line-specific elements such as a diamond front grille, a rear spoiler, and reprofiled bumpers.
On the inside, it gets a driver-centric dashboard layout with a digital driver’s display and a larger 12.9-inch infotainment screen. There’s chrome on various panels and air-con vents, and you also get ambient lighting inside the cabin. The R-Line gets sports seats and a sports steering wheel as well.
Some key Volkswagen Tiguan features that are seen on the R-Line variant include an 8-speaker premium sound system, three-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, six airbags, ADAS functionalities, hill-start assist, and more.
The global-spec model gets various powertrain options including petrol, diesel, and hybrid. The India-spec model is likely to come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
