The Mahindra Thar 3-door is the most popular SUV in its segment, beating the Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha by a large margin in terms of sales figures. Fun fact — the Mahindra Thar is the cheapest convertible in India at present!
We have been expecting a facelifted version of the Thar for quite some time now, and latest media reports suggest that the same might be here sometime next year.
The updated Mahindra Thar is likely to be heavily inspired by the Thar Roxx, borrowing cues such as the circular LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, the new six slat front grille, and a new set of alloy wheels.
It is also expected to get more creature comforts like automatic climate control, a bigger touchscreen for infotainment, 360-degree cameras, and probably some ADAS functionalities on the higher-spec Mahindra Thar variants.
Engine options are likely to remain unchanged, which include a 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual, a 2.2-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor.
The XUV700 is also rumoured to be up for a facelift next year, borrowing cues from Mahindra’s new electric SUVs — Mahindra BE 6 and Mahindra XEV 9e.
