Kia has established a stronghold in the Indian automotive market in a short span of just five years with the Seltos, Sonet, Carnival, Carens and EV6. It is now all-set to further expand its portfolio of cars in India with a number of new launches coming up over the next few months. Here is a list of the upcoming Kia cars in India.
Among the first set of Kia cars launched in India, the Carnival is making a comeback in its latest generation on October 3, 2024. Powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, the Carnival will be offered in Limousine and Limousine Plus variants, with an expected starting price of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Making its debut with the new Kia Carnival, the Kia EV9 will make its way to India on October 3, 2024. The EV9 is Kia’s full-size all-electric family SUV that is expected to be priced northwards of a crore rupees due to it coming via the CBU route. The EV9 is underpinned by Hyundai-Kia’s E-GMP platform.
Earlier speculated to be named as Kia Clavis, the Kia Syros will likely be positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos. The Syros SUV will also get the option of a diesel engine, as the Kia Syros test car that was spotted by us featured a lid for Diesel Exhaust Fluid. The Kia Syros launch is expected to happen sometime next year.
Kia’s current flagship car in India, the Kia EV6, shall soon be launched in a facelifted version, though Kia India is yet to confirm the official timeline for the same. Kia launched the Kia EV6 facelift back at its home market in May this year and it featured some visual enhancements, feature additions, and a bigger 84kWh battery pack.
As reported earlier, Kia is likely to launch the Kia Seltos hybrid globally in August 2024 and the same is expected to make its way to the Indian market as well. The Seltos hybrid is likely to borrow its powertrain from the Hyundai Kona hybrid, which comprises a 1.6-litre petrol engine, paired to a 32kW electric motor and a 6-speed DCT.
Another test mule from Kia that was spotted recently, the Kia Carens EV shall make its way to the market sometime next year. It will feature new headlights, rear lights and other styling changes that’ll ultimately make their way to the Kia Carens ICE as well. As per reports, the Carens EV will share its underpinnings with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
