The Citroen Basalt will be Citroen’s first coupe SUV in India. It will feature a sloping roof and a two-slat front grille, with the double-chevron logo in the middle.
The Citroen Basalt is likely to share its powertrain with the Citroen C3 Aircross, which features a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, paired to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter.
Citroen isn’t really known for stuffing its cars up with features. The Basalt is expected to get a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, hill hold assist, TPMS and automatic climate control.
While there is no official communication about the Citroen Basalt price from the manufacturer, we expect it to be priced between Rs 12 to 15 Lakhs, putting it over the C3 Aircross.
The Citroen will enter a highly-competitive segment with cars such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate already battling it out.
The Citroen Basalt will be unveiled on the 2nd of August, 2024. The prices are expected to be revealed shortly thereafter, with the media drives happening later in early August.
