The Urban Cruiser Taisor looks like a youthful and appealing car, thanks to its raised stance and aggressive styling. It gets sleek headlights, a sloping rear windshield, roof rails, lots of chrome garnish, hexagonal pattern for the front grille, and a connected tailbar.

Powertrains

Borrowing its powertrains from the Maruti Fronx, the Taisor gets the option of a 1.2-litre nat-asp petrol engine that can be paired to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT, which is extremely fuel efficient, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that can be paired to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, which is fun to drive.

Expensive Boosterjet variants

The Toyota Taisor Turbo variants are indeed fun to drive, but they are priced significantly higher than the ones that come with the base 1.2-litre NA engine. The Toyota Taisor Turbo price in India starts at Rs 10.56 lakh for the manual variants, and Rs 11.96 lakh for the automatic variants. Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Missing features

Yes, the Taisor does have plenty of features, but it misses out on some that you would expect from a car of its segment. These include a sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system, ventilated seats, and a digital driver’s display.

Safety concerns

The Toyota Taisor hasn’t been tested by any NCAP body, nor has the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Moreover, Maruti cars in India such as the Baleno and Fronx do not have a good reputation in terms of safety and built quality, which makes safety of the Taisor, too, a questionable factor.
