The BYD Sealion is the Chinese automaker’s newest electric car in India that is based on the BYD Seal sedan. It has just been launched in India, and here are the top things that you might want to know about the car.
The electric crossover has been launched in two trims — Premium and Prestige. The former is available in a single-motor configuration, while the latter is available in a dual-motor configuration.
The BYD Sealion 7 Premium comes in a RWD configuration and gets claimed power and torque output figures of 313PS and 380Nm respectively. The BYD Sealion 7 Performance comes in an AWD configuration and gets claimed figures of 530PS and 690Nm.
Both the variants come equipped with a 82.56kWh battery pack. The BYD Sealion 7 Premium has an NEDC-claimed range of 567km, and the BYD Sealion 7 Performance has a claimed range of 542km.
The Sealion 7 borrows lots of design cues from the Seal sedan, such as the headlamp design. It gets a different design for the alloy wheels, a lifted stance, and a raised roofline, and a fixed glass roof.
The Sealion 7 gets a different dashboard design from the Seal, and it features a four-spoke steering wheel. Key BYD Sealion 7 features include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 12-speaker sound system, driver fatigue monitor, a head-up display, powered front seats, 11 airbags, a Level-2 ADAS suite, and more.
The BYD Sealion 7 Premium price in India has been announced as Rs 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The BYD Sealion 7 Performance price in India has been announced as Rs 54.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Bookings for the Sealion are already live, and the BYD Sealion 7 deliveries will commence from March 7, 2025. The electric crossover is available in four colour options — Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, Cosmos Black and Shark Grey.
