The Ertiga is one of Maruti’s 7 seater cars in India, which is actually the best seller in its segment. What makes the Maruti Ertiga such a popular MPV? Here are the top Maruti Ertiga pros and cons.
The Ertiga boasts impressive claimed mileage figures that only a few can match. These numbers stand at 20.51kmpl for the petrol manual variants, 20.30kmpl for the petrol automatic variants, and 26.11km/kg for the CNG variants.
Apart from its rebadged version — Toyota Rumion — the Ertiga is the only 7-seater MPV in its class that gets the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit. CNG variants account for a good share of the total Maruti Ertiga sales in India, especially in the commercial segment.
The Maruti Ertiga is an immensely practical car that also provides a comfortable commuting experience to its occupants. It gets good cushioning for the seats, roof-mounted air-con vents, a soft suspension, and a ground clearance of good 185 millimetres.
The Ertiga lacks many features that other cars in the segment provide. Particularly talking of the base LXi variant, the Ertiga does not get rear air-con vents, a front armrest, height adjustable driver's seat, and more such crucial features.
The Ertiga gets neither a turbo-petrol engine nor a diesel engine, unlike the Kia Carens. It does get a CNG option that is missing on the Carens but the latter offers more powertrain options with better power and torque outputs.
The Ertiga is widely used as a taxi car, which reduces the appeal for the car to private buyers. This makes a lot of prospective customers shift to other options in the segment. The XL6 can be an alternative, but it is not offered in a seven-seater configuration.
