Hybrid powertrains have finally started getting popular in India and becoming more visible on mass market cars. Here are the top 5 upcoming hybrid cars in India that we believe you should watch out for.
Kia has reportedly been developing a hybrid version of their popular SUV in India — the Kia Seltos. The same is expected to make its way to India too, but we await confirmation from the carmaker as of date.
There had been speculations about an upcoming Maruti hybrid car in India, and now, a test mule of the Fronx hybrid has been spotted testing without camouflage. Maruti Suzuki might launch the car soon, followed by a possible launch of the Swift hybrid.
A 7-seater version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara hybrid SUV has also been seen testing, and is expected to be launched soon. Toyota is also likely to come up with a Toyota Hyryder hybrid 7-seater version.
An executive from Mahindra has cited that the carmaker is ready to launch a new hybrid car in India when it senses enough demand for it from consumers. It remains to be seen as to which Mahindra car in India will debut its hybrid system.
The next generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to be offered with a petrol hybrid powertrain for the first time in India. Don’t expect it to come before 2026 though.
