French carmaker Renault has opened a new design studio in India, expanding its presence in the country.
The new studio in Chennai happens to be the company’s largest design studio outside its home country, with an area of over 1,500 square metres.
Renault plans to not just design India-specific products, but also its global products at this new state-of-the-art facility.
At the inauguration of the new studio, Renault also showcased a sculpture titled Rethink, that has clearly been inspired by the upcoming Duster SUV.
The new generation Renault Duster launch in India is expected to take place sometime in 2026, and the India-spec Duster is likely to be different from the European-spec model.
In other news, Renault recently acquired Nissan’s 51% stake in RNAIPL, giving it full ownership of the Chennai-based manufacturing plant.
