Stellantis has announced its plan to introduce Leapmotor, a Chinese electric vehicle brand (20% owned by Stellantis), into the Indian market. This move is aimed at strengthening Stellantis’ EV presence, which currently includes only the Citroën eC3.
Leapmotor has seen significant growth in China, delivering nearly 300,000 EVs in 2024, showcasing strong year-on-year performance. The carmaker is now also expanding its roots in the European market.
Although an exact launch timeline hasn’t been disclosed, Leapmotor is expected to enter the Indian market by 2026. Stellantis is yet to share a detailed product roadmap for the Indian market.
Stellantis hasn’t revealed which Leapmotor models will be offered in India. Additionally, it remains unclear whether the vehicles will be imported as CBUs (Completely Built Units) or assembled locally to manage costs.
Leapmotor currently offers a range of cars in the Chinese market, ranging from small hatchbacks to family SUVs. Key models include the T03 hatchback and C10 and B10 electric SUVs.
