Jeep has unveiled a special edition of the Jeep Wrangler that is inspired by the original 1941 Jeep Willys that served the American military during World War II. The Wrangler donnes the classic olive green paint scheme along with decals all over.
The Wrangler gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine under the hood, which is assisted by a pair of electric motors and a battery pack. This plug-in-hybrid powertrain produces a maximum of 375PS of combined power and 637Nm of combined torque.
The special edition Wrangler gets an olive green exterior that’s similar to the colour of the 1941 Willys. It also gets 17-inch green aluminium wheels that elevate its character. There are quite a few decals around the body, and the Jeep can be specced with either a soft top or a hard top.
The seats of this Wrangler are covered in tan upholstery that goes well with the overall WWII theme. The gear lever also features a ‘41 badging so that you’re always reminded of the exclusivity of the SUV. The dashboard features the standard screens and controls that you would get on a Wrangler, but there’s olive fabric inserts and stitching to go with the upholstery.
The plug-in-hybrid system gives the Wrangler an electric-only range of 34 kilometres. The battery pack is a 17kWh lithium-ion .
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willy ‘41 is available in the US at a price of $61,825, which is a premium of $4,495 over the regular Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
