It's no secret to anyone that Skoda will be introducing a mix of battery electric powertrain and ICE engine options and if reports are to be believed, the Czech carmaker might also introduce CNG technology in India.
While Skoda is yet to confirm the launch of new CNg cars in India, it is believed that the first engine to be introduced in the CNG avatar might be the 1.0-litre TSI which is completely localised and cheaper to make.
Skoda India had previously confirmed that it is currently working on hybrid technology for India. Skoda also offers its 1.0-litre TSI CNG engine in multiple other cars sold in the European markets including the Scala and the Citigo compact hatchback.
While there is no official confirmation of when Skoda plans to introduce its CNG cars in India, it is believed that it would only initiate such a move if there is enough demand in the future. The brand might introduce the CNG powertrain in its more affordable Kylaq SUV which will soon make its debut in India.
The Skoda Kushaq CNG was spotted testing in India back in 2022, fueling speculation about its potential launch. However, there have been no further updates or developments on this front since then.
