Honda Cars India gave their best selling sedan in India a generational update a couple of weeks back, with the updated model featuring exterior and interior design changes, feature additions, and a tweaked powertrain.
Honda has decided to sell two successive generations of the Honda Amaze alongside each other, with the second gen model being sold with the third gen model. While this might be interesting to read about, it isn’t that uncommon as there have been multiple cases of car brands in India adopting a similar strategy before.
The previous generation of the Honda Amaze was initially launched in India back in 2018, and was facelifted in 2021. It features a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that can be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
The new Honda Amaze, which is the third generation model, gets multiple styling enhancements over the second-gen model. It also gets a redesigned dashboard layout with additional features like ADAS, as well as tweaked gear ratios for the manual transmission.
The old Honda Amaze price in India ranges from Rs 7.19 lakh to Rs 9.95 lakh, while the new one is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 10.89 lakh. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Some other popular cars in India that are or have been on sale in two generations at the same time include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Skoda Octavia (albeit with a different name — Skoda Laura), Mahindra Scorpio (Classic and N), and the Honda City.
