The Renault-Nissan alliance is investing heavily in India (Rs 5,300 crore) and launching a wave of new vehicles across various segments. This includes the much-anticipated X-Trail SUV, which was just officially teased in India.
Nissan is aiming to carve out a niche in the premium space with the X-Trail, taking on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass with its feature-rich package and potential price competitiveness.
India's X-Trail skips the facelift but keeps the look. Expect a pre-facelift design with split headlights, LED DRLs, and a sporty stance.
The X-Trail is likely getting a sole 1.5L turbo petrol engine capable of delivering 201bhp and 305Nm, featuring advanced VC-Turbo technology and possibly an AWD option.
The X-Trail's cabin looks premium, with a big touchscreen (up to 12.3-inch), digital instrument cluster (on higher trims), and leather upholstery.
While the price is still unclear, it is set to compete with the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass so we can expect X-trail to be priced around Rs 35 Lakhs.
