The Superb is Skoda’s flagship sedan that was discontinued in India some time back and was relaunched as a CBU unit, bumping up its price to an appalling Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, has confirmed that the Czech carmaker will be launching the new generation Skoda Superb in India in 2025. Petr has also said that the new Kodiaq shall also be launched here, with assembly starting in March next year.
There’s a high probability that Skoda could assemble the new Skoda Kodiaq via CKD kits in India, unlike the current model that comes in via the CBU route. This should also result in a price correction, making the Superb more appealing and sensible to prospective buyers.
The new Superb is likely to retain the tried and tested 2.0-litre TSI engine that is also seen on the current model. This turbo-petrol motor produces 190PS of maximum power and 320Nm of peak torque on the current generation. The same 7-speed DSG is also likely to be retained. Globally, the new Superb is available with a plethora of powertrain options.
There’s a revamped interior on the new Skoda Superb, featuring a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with ChatGPT, 10-inch digital driver’s display, rotary dials for climate controls, seat ventilation, and other controls, steering mounted gear selector, and a new design for the air-con vents that runs through the whole length of the dashboard.
Significant changes have been made to the exterior of the upcoming Skoda Superb as well, with triangular-ish rear lights, redesigned headlights, the 2-D Skoda logo on the bonnet along with the brand’s signature octagonal grille, fresh alloy wheels, and redesigned air intakes. The saloon is also longer and taller than before, though the width has been decreased.
