Hyundai Creta has been dominating the C-segment of SUVs in India since its launch in 2015. Many mass market manufacturers have come up with their own compact SUV but none have been as successful. A new challenger – Tata Curvv – has just arrived in town. Will it be able to grab a good chunk of sales from the Creta?
The 2024 Hyundai Creta measures 4,330mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,635mm in height (with roof rails). The Tata Curvv measures 4,308mm in length, 1,810mm in width and 1,630mm in height. Creta has a wheelbase of 2,610mm, which is 50mm longer than that of the new Tata Curvv.
Wheel size depends on the variant opted for in case of both the cars. The Creta gets options for 16-inch and 17-inch wheels while the Curvv gets options for 16-inch, 17-inch and 18-inch wheels.
The styling of both these SUVs is poles apart. While the Creta looks more like a scaled-down traditional SUV with modern design cues, the Curvv features a coupe-like styling with a sloping roof, giving it a fresher visual vibe and character.
None of the two cars lack in this aspect. For starters, the Creta gets reclining rear seats, 8-way powered driver seat, rear window sunshades, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone auto AC, three drive modes, three traction control modes, 10.25-inch infotainment system, Bose sound system, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and more.
The Curvv comes with most of the features that the Creta gets, and then some more. There’s Xpress cooling, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system, gesture-controlled electric tailgate, 6-way powered driver seat, JBL sound system, 360-degree cameras, lamps with animation, illuminated steering wheel among other features.
Both the cars get 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, disc brakes on all four tyres, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, hill-hold assist, auto-dimming IRVM, 3-point seatbelts and reminder for all seats, rear parking sensors, rear camera, and ADAS. There are a couple of more features that the Curvv gets and the Creta does not, and vice versa.
For the Creta, there are seven variants, seven exterior colours (thirteen if you include the N-Line), and two interior themes to choose from. The Tata Curvv gets eight variants, six mono-tone exterior colours, six dual-tone themes, and multiple interior themes to choose from, depending on the persona.
