Skoda has recently revealed its all-new sub-compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq, at a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is indeed a smaller version of the Kushaq, but there are some factors that differentiate these two SUVs from each other. Here’s a quick comparison between the Kylaq and the Kushaq.
The key difference between these two cars lies in their size. The Kushaq is 230mm longer and has a 95mm longer wheelbase, though the Kylaq is slightly wider and taller than the former. Ground clearance is almost identical. Refer to the table above for exact dimensions.
The Kylaq adopts Skoda’s new Modern Solid design language, featuring subtler elements and a smooth flowing design. It gets tiny rear lights and slim DRLs at the front that are joined with the subtler octagonal grille. The Kushaq has more pronounced character lines and a comparatively muscular styling.
The Kylaq gets a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that can be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor. The Kushaq too gets this engine, but there’s the option of a bigger 1.5-litre TSI unit as well that comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Power and torque outputs are mentioned in the table above.
The Kylaq borrows many components from the Kushaq, including the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, HVAC control panel, steering wheel, and digital driver’s display. It gets octagonal garnish around the air-con vents. The dashboard layout is similar but the design of the same varies to mark a separation between both the cars.
The entry-level variant of the Kylaq is priced at Rs 3 lakh less than that of the Kushaq, with both cars getting the same powertrain. The 1.0-litre variants of the Kushaq go up to Rs 17.19 lakh, while the 1.5-litre variants cost between Rs 16.89 lakh and Rs 18.79 lakh. Prices for rest of the Skoda Kylaq variants are yet to be announced. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
