The Skoda Kodiaq is the Czech carmaker’s flagship SUV in India, that is offered at a starting price of Rs 39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in two trims — Style and L&K — it is powered by VW’s 2.0-litre TSI engine that’s mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Skoda has already introduced the second generation Kodiaq in international markets, and the same is set to arrive here in the first half of 2025. This has been confirmed by Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India.
Petr has also confirmed that the new Kodiaq will be assembled from CKD kits at one of Skoda-Volkswagen’s India plants. Assemble shall start from March 2025, and the Kodiaq has already been seen testing in Aurangabad quite a few times.
The new Kodiaq is likely to carry over the same 2.0-litre TSI engine that powers the current generation, producing 190PS of maximum power and 320Nm of maximum torque. It comes paired to a 7-speed DSG, which is also expected to be retained. The India-spec Kodiaq gets a 4x4 drivetrain.
Following Skoda’s new Modern Solid styling language, the new Kodiaq gets connected lamps at the rear with SKODA lettering in the centre, redesigned headlamps, the iconic octagonal front grille, and new alloy wheels. The new Kodiaq is longer and wider, but the wheelbase remains the same.
There’s a completely new interior layout on the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq, featuring a 13-inch touchscreen unit at the centre, a 10-inch digital driver’s display, three physical dials (one can be customised) for various car controls, wireless smartphone charger, and more.
The new Kodiaq shall be launched around May 2025. Skoda has an array of launches lined up for next year, including the new Skoda Superb, Skoda’s first sub-compact SUV for India — Skoda Kylaq, and the all-electric Skoda Enyaq.
