As reported by Autocar India, Nissan is considering the Patrol for an India debut in 2026 as a fully imported unit, aiming to showcase its brand's strength with this legendary SUV.
The latest-gen Patrol (Y63) has recently launched globally, with a rugged body-on-frame build and a bold exterior styling dominated by a large front grille and prominent lights.
Once launched, the Patrol could take on the Land Cruiser Prado, sparking new competition in the premium, large 4x4 SUV segment.
Positioned as a halo model, the Patrol is expected to strengthen Nissan’s reputation, especially as the brand expands its SUV lineup in India.
Unlike before, the new Patrol is only offered with two petrol V6 petrol engine options – a naturally aspirated, 3.8-litre engine and a more powerful, twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre motor. If launched in India, the Patrol will get one of these engines.
With demand from markets like Australia and Japan, Nissan is working on a right-hand drive version of the Patrol, and is expected to introduce it by 2026.
Expected to cost over Rs 1 crore, the Patrol will bring powerful petrol V6 engines to India, marking Nissan’s flagship presence with style and strength.
