Suzuki has just unveiled a production ready version of the Suzuki eVX, which has been christened as the Suzuki e Vitara. It is the brand’s first electric car in the world, and will be their first one to go on sale in India too.
The Maruti Suzuki eVX is underpinned by the new Heartect-e platform that has been specifically designed for EVs by Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu, jointly. It is a modular skateboard platform that will underpin a series of upcoming electric cars from these brands.
The e Vitara has been designed with a fresh approach, giving it a premium-looking body and modern elements. It measures 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,635mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm. Tyre sizes range from 18-inches to 19-inches.
The e Vitara gets three options for the powertrain, two of which are FWD and one gets a AWD configuration. The table above lists the battery capacity, motor output, and configuration of all the available powertrain on the Euro-spec model.
The interior looks fresh too, with a trending twin-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation, a flat-bottom steering wheel, vertically-placed AC vents, physical controls for HVAC, ADAS, fabric + leather/leatherette seats, and more.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be showcased at the next Bharat Mobility Expo that is scheduled to be held in January 2025. Production will start at the company’s Gujarat plant around March, and India launch shall take place around the same time.
