Mahindra has just launched the BE 6e, which happens to be one of its first BEVs in the Indian market. Mahindra aims to make it big into the global market with the new BE 6e, so does Tata with the Curvv EV. How do these two cars compare against each other? Let’s find out.
The Curvv gets smoother-flowing and curvier body panels while the BE 6e is more on the sleeker and sharper side with better defined edges. Both these coupe SUVs get connected lightbars on either ends, flush door handles, and aero wheels.
The Curvv EV gets two battery pack options — 45kWh and 55kWh, so does the BE 6e — 59kWh and 79kWh. The Tata Curvv EV comes with a 167PS electric motor, enabling it to reach 100kmph from standstill in 8.6 seconds. The new Mahindra BE 6e can do the same in 6.7 seconds, thanks to its more powerful 231PS rear axle-mounted-motor.
MIDC claimed range of the Curvv EV with the bigger 55kWh battery pack is 585 kilometres. MIDC claimed range of the BE 6e with the bigger 79kWh battery pack is 682 kilometres, while that of the smaller 59kWh battery pack is 535km. Tata claims a 10% to 80% charging time of 40 mins via a 70kW charger, and Mahindra claims a 20% to 80% charging time of 20 mins via a 140kW charger.
The interior of the BE 6e puts emphasis towards the driver, featuring a curved separation between the driver and co-driver. The gear lever, roof-mounted console, and some other elements have been inspired from fighter jets. The Curvv EV, on the other hand, gets a fairly common dashboard layout with clean lines and surfaces.
The feature lists on both these electric coupe SUVs are quite long. Some of the key Mahindra BE 6e features include a Level-2 ADAS suite, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, illuminated glass roof, reclining rear seats, and more. Some of the key Tata Curvv EV features include a 9-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, Level-2 ADAS functionalities, panoramic sunroof, and more.
The Tata Curvv EV price varies between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh. The Mahindra BE 6e price in India starts at Rs 18.90 lakh. Prices for rest of the BE 6e variants shall be revealed at a later date, which we expect to be one of the days of the Bharat Mobility Expo that is scheduled to take place from 17-22 January, 2025.
