Along with the debut of the new Kia Carnival MPV, Kia has launched the all-electric EV9 full-size family SUV in India. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Available in just one trim in India, the EV9 gets a 99.8kWh battery pack paired to a couple of electric motors that generate a combined output of 384PS of power and 700Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to reach triple digit speeds in just 5.3 seconds.
The Indian-spec EV9 gets a claimed range of 561 kilometres on a single charge. Claimed charging time from 10% to 80% is 24 minutes, though you would need a 350kW DC fast charger to do so, which is hardly available as part of the public infrastructure in the country as of date.
The EV9 features an edgy and modern styling language that makes it stand apart from other premium SUVs in the market. It has interestingly-shaped headlights and rear lights along with flush door handles. All-in-all, the design is quirky and appealing.
The EV9 is underpinned by Hyundai-Kia’s E-GMP platform, which also underpins cars such as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia EV9 measures 5,025mm in length, 1,980mm in width, and 1,780mm in height while the wheelbase is measured at 3,100mm.
The EV9 comes packed with the latest tech and safety features including Vehicle-to-Everything technology, a curved dual-screen system, 10 airbags, Level-2 ADAS with 27 functionalities, second-row captain seats with electric-adjustment, heating, ventilation, and more.
Available in just one trim, the Kia EV9 price in India has been set at Rs 1.29 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The EV9 can be specced in five exterior colour and two dual-tone interior colour options.
