There’s a new Ferrari that has just rolled out from Maranello, and it’s not your everyday Ferrari. The Ferrari F80 claims to be the successor to the famed LaFerrari, which literally meant ‘The Ferrari’.
Powering the F80 is a 3.0-litre V6 engine mated to three electric motors, one at the rear axle and two on the front, producing a combined power output of 1217PS. The hybrid-petrol engine works in conjunction with an F1 sourced 8-speed automatic transmission to send the power to all four wheels.
Designers of the F80 have strictly adhered to a driver-centric approach with all the controls angled towards the driver and the co-driver seat placed in the background. Ferrari calls the setup a ‘1+’ rather than a 2-seater.
This new Ferrari deserves a new steering wheel, and it does get one, featuring some physical controls in place of all touch and haptic buttons. The gear shifter resembles the look of a gated manual and there’s tons of software and equipment stuffed into the car including some ADAS functionalities.
Ferrari has set a limit to the number of F80s that it will produce; 799 to be precise. The Ferrari F80 base price has been set at a mind-boggling $ 4 million, give or take a few hundred thousand dollars.
Being an iconic Ferrari, you can’t just buy it even if you have the money lying around. Moreover, all the 799 units have already been spoken for by the brand’s loyal clientele, so no F80 for you!
