Maruti Suzuki had just revealed the new Dzire ahead of its official launch scheduled for November 11, 2024. The new Dzire measures almost identical to the outgoing model but it sits on a new platform and gets revamped styling on the outside as well as the inside.
News is that the Dzire has become the first-ever India-spec Maruti Suzuki car to score a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP voluntary crash test. This is momentous for MSIL given the fact that they had been facing backlash due to poor performance of their India-spec cars in GNCAP crash tests.
The new Dzire scored five out of five stars for Adult Occupant Protection. It secured 31.24 points out of a maximum of 34 points. A detailed crash test report can be accessed from the GNCAP official website.
The Child Occupant Protection rating stood at four out of five stars, with the sedan securing 39.20 points out of a maximum of 49 points. This comes as a big improvement from the previous generation that scored two stars in both adult and child occupant protection.
It is to be noted that Maruti Suzuki had voluntarily sent the Dzire to GNCAP for testing purposes. Furthermore, crash test ratings aren’t the sole or the most accurate indicators that reflect how safe would the occupants be in the event of a crash. Other factors that should be considered in order to determine how safe a car is are driver comfort, driver assistance systems, structural integrity of the vehicle and more.
The occupants have to adhere to the safety norms such as using seatbelts on all the seats, whether at the front or rear, as well as using child seats for any children travelling in the vehicle, in order to let the safety features protect them in case of a mishap. No matter how safe a car has been proven to be, there are chances of major injuries or even fatalities if all the necessary precautions are not taken by the occupants.
