MG Comet EV

We’ve been driving the MG Comet EV for quite some time now. There are some common perceptions that people have about the car, and we aim to address some of the key ones through this story.

Perception: The Comet looks tiny from outside; there must be a space crunch in the cabin!

Reality: Thanks to a well packaged design, there’s enough space for four adults and some stuff inside the cabin. You don’t feel shortchanged on this aspect, but it isn’t the most comfortable commuter out there.

Perception: It’s a city car. Must be slow and lethargic.

Reality: The Comet has enough performance to zip through traffic and overtake other vehicles on the road easily. It’s best suited for the city though, and isn’t the most stable on highways.

Perception: The Comet price in India seems quite high. Wonder how high the running and maintenance costs would be!

Reality: While the upfront cost is quite significant, it requires chump change to run. MG Comet maintenance costs are negligible too, due to lesser mechanical components than ICE cars.

Perception: Range anxiety is real! Does it have enough juice for my daily commutes?

Reality: The MG Comet range comes out to be 160-180 kilometres in real life. It has enough range for everyday commutes. Charge it overnight and you’re good to go for the next couple of days. It now comes with faster AC charging, too.

Perception: What do I get on the inside after spending as much on a micro electric car in India?

Reality: The higher MG Comet variants come equipped with features such as a dual-screen setup, LED lights, manual AC, a sound system, and more. Fit and finish levels are also respectable.
