The entry-level 7-seater Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV, launched in December 2022, has now been officially discontinued from the Indian market. While the model still appears on the official website, buyers trying to configure it will come across a message saying it's currently not available.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB SUV was brought to India from the carmaker’s plant in Mexico via the CBU route. With all units imported under this route now sold, no more units are expected to arrive. As a result, this model will no longer be available at retail.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB was available in three variants. At launch, the GLB 200 Progressive was priced at Rs 63.80 lakh, the 220d 4Matic at Rs 66.80 lakh, and the 220d AMG Line 4Matic at Rs 69.80 lakh.
The Mercedes GLB 200 Progressive variant comes with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and is powered by the front wheels only.
The Mercedes GLB 220d variant comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine and all-wheel drive. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
In March 2023, the Mercedes GLB received its mid-cycle update globally. The update brought some changes to the exterior, a revised interior, and added features. A new 48v mild-hybrid powertrain option was also introduced.
However, the carmaker has confirmed that the new Mercedes GLB SUV will come to India. Once launched, it is also likely to arrive via the CBU route, with an expected launch timeline around 2026.
