The Maruti Ciaz is currently the only mid-segment sedan available in the Maruti Suzuki lineup. However, there have been reports suggesting that the Maruti Ciaz sales are expected to end by the end of this year, indicating that the model will likely be discontinued soon.
According to Autocar reports, production of the Maruti Ciaz is set to stop by March 2025. With declining sales and shifting market preferences towards SUVs, this news doesn't come as a big surprise.
The Maruti Ciaz was first launched in 2014 and has only received a mid-life facelift, meaning it's still in its first generation. Over time, the model has struggled to keep up with its competitors mainly due to the lack of updates in terms of design, features, safety, and performance.
When the BS6 emission standards were introduced, Maruti Suzuki had to discontinue the 1.5 DDiS diesel engine from the Ciaz, which accounted for about 30% of its sales
Over the years, Maruti Ciaz sales have declined. In 2021, the highest monthly sales were 3,001 units in August, and in 2022, it was 2,515 units in August again. By June 2023, sales dropped to 1,744 units, and in August 2024, only 707 units were sold. In January 2025, sales further fell to 768 units
The Maruti Ciaz price currently starts at Rs 9.41 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.11 lakh. It is offered in two variants: Sigma and Delta.
The Maruti Ciaz is powered by the K15 Smart Hybrid Petrol Engine and is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The Maruti Ciaz mileage is claimed to be 20.65 km/l for the manual version, while the automatic version is said to return 20.04 km/l.
