The Mahindra Thar ROXX offers two engine choices — a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mStallion and a 2.2-litre diesel mHawk, both available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 4X4 option is exclusive to the diesel models.
In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny features a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, and comes with 4X4 as standard.
The Mahindra Thar ROXX is 443mm longer, 225mm wider and 203mm taller than the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It also has a longer wheelbase by 260mm. Thar ROXX has a water wading depth of 650mm while Jimny has a water wading depth of around 310mm.
Thar ROXX and Maruti Suzuki Jimny prioritise safety with numerous safety features like hill-hold control, hill descent control, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, brake assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and brake lock differential (BLD).
Both the cars get 4 speakers, cruise control, a rear-view camera, a rear wiper with washer, push-button start-stop, LED headlamps, rear defogger, and wireless Android Auto.
Other than this, the Jimny includes automatic headlamps, auto climate control, headlamp washers, 15-inch alloy wheels and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Thar ROXX, on the other hand, gets an auto-dimming IRVM, reclining rear seats, wireless charging, 18-inch steel wheels/19-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, roll-over mitigation, brake disc wiping, three terrain modes and a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is offered in seven exterior colour options — Sizzling Red, Granite Grey, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof and Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black roof. It comes in 4 variants - Zeta (MT/AT) and Aplha (MT/AT).
The 5-Door Mahindra Thar ROXX is also offered in seven colour choices — Stealth Black, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Tango Red, Burnt Sienna, Everest White and Battleship Grey, with a variety of 18 trims, though only four variants get the 4X4 system.
The Mahindra Thar ROXX is priced from Rs 12.99 Lakh to Rs 20.49 Lakh. The prices for the 4WD diesel variants are yet to be announced. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny price ranges between Rs 12.74 Lakh and Rs 14.79 Lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.
