A new Skoda Kodiaq test mule was recently spotted testing in Germany with a Czech number plate. A glimpse of a laptop inside was also seen, likely used for performance analysis. The test mule also featured a right-hand drive setup.
What’s interesting about the spied new Skoda Kylaq is that it comes with rear disc brakes, while the Indian-spec Kylaq only has rear drum brakes. Even the Kushaq and Slavia models are equipped with rear drum brakes as well.
The spied Skoda Kylaq is expected to come with a 1.5L TSI engine, which is likely to produce around 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. It will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
It's unlikely that the Skoda Kyalq 1.5L TSI will be launched in India due to the country's tax imposition rules. According to these rules, any sub-4-metre vehicle with an engine larger than 1.2L is subject to a higher tax rate.
It is likely that the new Skoda Kyalq, currently testing, is being prepared for the international market instead, as there are no such tax restrictions in the international market.
The new Skoda Kyalq 1.5L TSI is expected to be manufactured at the carmaker's Aurangabad plant in India and then exported to international markets.
