Hyundai Motor India has officially announced its intent to introduce Genesis, the company’s luxury brand popular in North America and South Korea, to cater to India’s growing premium car market.
The announcement follows months of speculation, strengthened by the trademarking of the Genesis GV80 Coupe in India. The recent financial year report also identified the executive responsible for leading the Genesis India project, signaling progress toward launch.
Genesis is expected to enter India with Completely Built Units (CBUs), with the first models arriving as early as late 2025. Over time, Hyundai may locally assemble Genesis vehicles to stay competitive in the luxury segment.
The brand is likely to start with SUV models, particularly the GV80 Coupe, aligning with market demand and its recent trademark.
Alongside the GV80 Coupe, Genesis may bring other premium offerings such as the G80 and G90 sedans and the all-electric GV60 Coupe SUV, expanding its portfolio in India.
