The current generation of the Mahindra Thar 3-door, up until now, was the cheapest convertible in India, starting at Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Mahindra has discontinued as many as eight variants of the Thar 3-door, including all the convertible top ones as well as the ones with open differentials.
The overall price range of the Thar remains unaffected as the discontinued variants lie somewhere between the extremes. The Mahindra Thar price in India ranges from Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Thar is available in multiple powertrain configurations with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, a 2.2-litre diesel engine, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. There are choices between RWD and 4WD setups as well as manual and automatic transmissions.
Mahindra is reportedly going to launch a facelifted version of the Thar sometime in 2026, featuring styling changes and interior enhancements that are expected to be heavily inspired from the Mahindra Thar Roxx.
