Volkswagen has developed a new entry-level SUV for Brazil, which it has named as the Volkswagen Tera. The car has just been unveiled for the first time at a festival in Brazil.
The Tera is based on the same MQB-A0 platform that also underpins the new Skoda Kylaq — Skoda’s entry-level SUV in India.
The Tera borrows some design cues from higher-end Volkswagen cars such as the Tiguan and ID.4. It gets connected rear lights, and front lights that are connected by a thin bar of chrome.
The SUV gets a digital driver’s display, a floating touchscreen infotainment setup, polygonal air-con vents, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Volkswagen Tera features are yet to be revealed by the carmaker.
The powertrain specifications of the SUV are also yet to be disclosed, though we expect it to come powered by the same 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine as the 2025 Skoda Kylaq.
With its initial launch likely to take place in Brazil sometime in 2025, the Volkswagen Tera India launch is expected to happen sometime next year, with significant changes to the car to make it fall under the sub-4 metre segment.
