Hyundai Kona was launched as a sub-compact electric SUV starting from Rs 25.30 Lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It was aimed to be a strong contender in India’s growing EV market.
Hyundai Kona was originally launched for Rs 25.3 Lakh (ex-showroom), however due to low sales, discounts upwards of Rs 2 Lakh were pretty common on this model.
Hyundai Kona was performing poorly as it was competing against the likes of Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV, which were priced very effectively compared to Kona.
Hyundai Kona came equipped with a 39.2 kWh battery and which had a claimed range of about 452 km. It produced 136hp of power and 395Nm of peak torque.
Although Kona failed, Hyundai is replacing it with the Creta EV. Creta being a popular model in India, Creta EV does seem very promising.
Although the exact launch date is not yet confirmed, we expect it to be launched early next year. As for price, it is yet to be seen.
