Porsche launched Taycan back in 2019 as their first ever electric car. Porsche Taycan price starts at Rs 1.89Cr (ex-showroom) in India. Base Model Taycan produces 482.76bhp of power and 650Nm of torque. It’s 93.4kWh battery provides a claimed range of 452km.
NHTSA USA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has found Taycan’s front brake hoses susceptible to cracks which could cause brake fluid to leak. This could result in compromised front brakes increasing the overall probability of a crash.
The German manufacturer has recalled all the Porsche Taycan sold worldwide. Porsche will replace hoses on all the affected models with new ones.
This incident may cause a degraded brand perception regarding safety in the minds of the masses. Porsche Taycan’s value was already depreciating fast as is the case with most EVs and with this incident, owners are worried about the resale value of it.
While this seems to be a Porsche particular issue, other EVs such as Audi e-Tron GT and Audi RS e-Tron GT which share platform and many components are also speculated to ship with the same problem, but it’s yet to be seen.
