Google has finally rolled out an update that enables the Maps app to instruct the driver whether to take the flyover or continue with the side road. This feature will help many Indians and cut down the confusion while driving on unknown roads.
By using AI, Google has also worked on an update that instructs the users about a narrow road ahead. The AI model uses multiple signals like satellite imagery, Street View, and other information like road types, distance between buildings, paved sections, etc. to estimate road widths at scale.
As part of the update, the Google Maps app will also offer EV charger locator for its users. In order to offer this feature, Google Maps has tied up with EV charger providers like ElectricPe, Ather, Kazam, and Statiq, offering 8,000 chargers across the country,
Another new feature within the Google Maps app is the new metro ticket booking feature, which enables the user to book a metro ticket right from the Maps app.
Google has now simplified the way for users to report incidents on the roads. With just a few taps, the users can easily report incidents thereby helping the community.
If a user is planning a trip with friends or family, with the updated "Lists" feature, they can all contribute to the itinerary, share recommendations, and even vote on where to go using emojis! The company has also collaborated with local experts like NDTV Food and MagicPin.
