Launched at Rs 3 Crore, the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 is one of the most expensive electric cars on sale in India. But what powers this new electric SUV and how fast is it?
The new electric G-Wagen gets a 116kWh battery pack that supports up to 200kW DC fast charging. This battery pack is paired with four electric motors – one for each wheel. This setup delivers a combined power and torque output of 587PS and 1,164Nm of maximum torque.
The Mercedes electric G Wagen 0-100 is claimed to be a little over 5 seconds while the SUV can do a 20-80kmph run in just 2.9 seconds and a 10-100kmph sprint in just 3.35 seconds.
While the claimed Mercedes-Benz G 580 range is 473km (WLTP), the users report a real-life range of close to 350km in mixed usage. The real-life range depends on driving style, traffic conditions and temperature.
You will need around 32 minutes to charge the new G 580 from 10% to 80% using the 200kW DC fast charging while a 50kW DC fast charger will take around 1 hour and 43 minutes. When charged using the standard 11kW AC home charger, the new electric G-Class will take around 12 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge from 0%.
