Citroen India has revealed its fifth car in India, the Citroen Basalt. Set to rival cars like the Hyundai Creta and upcoming Tata Curvv, it will be among India’s first mass-market coupe SUVs. Here’s all you need to know about the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV.
The Citroen Basalt gets not one but two engine options — a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The NA engine produces 80.8bhp of power, and the turbo-petrol engine generates 108.5bhp.
The NA engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and generates 115Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol engine can be paired to either a 6-speed manual, generating 190Nm of torque, or a 6-speed torque convertor, generating 205Nm of torque.
The Citroen Basalt gets automatic climate control, 10.2-inch centre-mounted floating touchscreen, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and adjustable under-thigh support for rear seats. On the safety front, it gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, TPMS, and hill-hold assist.
The Basalt gets 7 colour options, including 5 monotone and 2 dual-tone selections. The monotone colour options are Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red. The dual-tone options are Polar White with black roof and Garnet Red with black roof.
With Citroen yet to reveal the price of the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV, we expect it to be priced starting at Rs 12 Lakh (ex-showroom). Entering a competitive segment, the Basalt is set to rival the upcoming Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and the VW-Skoda siblings.
