The Bao 3 is a rugged electric SUV from Fang Cheng Bao brand, which is a subsidiary of BYD. In India, the Bao 3’s design has been patented recently, ahead of its expected debut at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025.
A recent design patent filed by BYD shows the bold and rugged design of the Bao 3, which also includes a roof storage box for added practicality. It remains to be seen if the patented design makes it to the Indian market in production form upon launch.
Coming to its specifications, the Bao 3 measures 4605/1900/1720 mm in length/width/height and boasts a wheelbase of 2745mm. These dimensions should place it against the Mahindra electric SUV duo — the BE 6 and the XEV 9e.
Quite apparent from the looks of it, the Bao 3 incorporates a dual-motor drivetrain, enabling all-wheel-drive. Its front motor offers an output of 150PS whereas the rear motor dishes out 300PS of power, enabling the SUV to go from standstill to 100kmph in 4.9 seconds.
About its India launch, BYD has only filed a design patent for the Bao 3. It’s too early to judge when it will be launched in the Indian market. However, we do believe that the Bao 3 could mark its presence at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025.
