The BMW M5 has been the poster car for generations of enthusiasts, and BMW has recently given the car a generational update. The M5 has entered its seventh generation and has received a slew of updates.
The 4.4-litre V8 engine now comes mated to a hybrid system, bumping up the total output to 737PS of maximum power and 1,000Nm of maximum torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed torque convertor.
The updated M5 can reach triple digit speeds from standstill in just 3.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250kmph, which can be increased to 305kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package.
The M5 is essentially an aggressive-looking 5-Series. It gets M-badged all over the exterior, reprofiled bumpers, wider air intakes at the front, quad exhaust pipes, restyled rocker panels, carbon fibre roof, and a rear diffuser. It also gets M-specific alloy wheels and other bits that make it stand apart from the standard 5-Series.
Inside the cabin, there’s a dual-screen curved display angled towards the driver, an 18-speaker surround sound system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an ADAS suite, and more. There are multiple options available for the leather upholstery.
The new M5 is available as a CBU unit and is priced at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). For perspective, the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance costs Rs 4 lakh less but also falls short of four cylinders. Which one would you pick?
