Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the new generation Mercedes-Benz CLA, unveiling both electric and petrol-hybrid versions of the sedan. Here are five things to know about the new Mercedes-Benz CLA.
Unlike current Mercedes-Benz cars such as the S-Class and EQS sedan duo, newer cars from the German manufacturer will feature lesser distinctions between ICE and electric cars, and the CLA is the first of the lot. Both hybrid and electric versions are based on the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA).
The upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will be offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, while the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA hybrid will be offered in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
The ICE versions will come powered by a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that will produce a maximum power of 136-191PS (depending on the trim) assisted by a hybrid setup comprising a 27PS motor and a 1.3kWh battery pack.
The CLA EV will be offered in two trims — CLA 250+ with EV technology, and CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology. Claimed range for the former trim stands at 792km, while that for the latter stands at 770km. The EV will come with an 85kWh nickel-managanese-cobalt battery pack.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA interior ditches physical controls (we’re not too happy with that) for Mercedes’ Superscreen setup that houses three touchscreen panels that come with the MB.OS system.
