Maruti Suzuki is celebrating 25 years of sales of the Wagon R, with the first generation of the Tall Boy (not you Santro) launched back in 1999. What’s more astonishing is the fact that it is still one of the best selling Maruti cars in India even when it has so many cars in its portfolio.
Maruti has sold over 32 lakh units of this hatchback over these past 25 years. Out of these 32 lakh cars, over 6.6 lakh were CNG powered and the rest were petrol ones.
The current generation of the Wagon R is offered with two engine options — a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Both come with the option of a manual transmission and an AMT. The smaller unit can also be specced with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R comes equipped with features such as remote keyless entry, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, hill-hold assist, ESP, and rear parking sensors.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is available in four broad trims — LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The starting price currently stands at Rs 5.55 lakh, and the top-end variant is priced at Rs 7.32 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
